Must be accepted or enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education
as a full-time undergraduate student pursuing an academic discipline.
High School Seniors can apply before their college acceptance but will
need to show proof of enrollment as an under-graduate student once they
are received.
• Graduate students and students pursuing professional degrees are
not eligible.
• The institution in which the student is enrolled (or has applied)
determines the minimum credit load that classifies the student in a full-time
status.
• Students enrolled in community or junior colleges are also eligible
to apply provided they intend to enroll in and obtain a bachelor degree
from a four-year accredited institution.
2. Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or
better on a 4.00 scale.
3. Must come from families at or below 60% of the area’s median
family income, based on family size. Applicants must submit the following:
• Certification by a college or university’s Student Financial
Aid Office
• A copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR)
• The student’s and/or parents’ most recently filed
Federal Income Tax Return
4. Must be a U.S. citizen of Hispanic origin (defined as having one Hispanic
parent or two Hispanic grandparents) residing in the fifty states or Puerto
Rico. Preference is given to students who have demonstrated leadership
or mentoring qualities through their record of involvement and participation
in civic activities in school or in their communities.
